The anticipation of a new litter of puppies or kittens is incredibly exciting. As a pet owner, ensuring your pet's health during pregnancy is a top priority. At All Care Veterinary Network, we offer comprehensive ultrasound services and radiographs to monitor the growth and development of unborn puppies or kittens, providing peace of mind and expert care throughout the entire gestation period.
Our veterinarians can perform an ultrasound on your dog 25 days after breeding. Ultrasound is the same technology used to generate Sonograms during human pregnancy, using sound waves that are transmitted through your pet’s body to create an image. Ultrasound is perfectly safe for your pregnant dog. Ultrasound may not be accurate in counting the number of puppies but can determine the heartbeat of the puppies.
X-rays are probably the most effective way to determine if your dog is pregnant. Our veterinarians can x-ray your dog 52 days after breeding. On day 52, we are able to give you an accurate count of the number of puppies in the womb, which will let you know how many puppies to expect during the delivery process.
