Wellness Exams

Wellness Exams

All Care Veterinary Network offers a variety of wellness exams for pets at any life stage.

Proactive, preventative care is essential for keeping your pet healthy. Routine wellness exams allow us to address preventable issues such as obesity, ear infections, and dental disease, while also screening early for conditions like arthritis, diabetes, and kidney disease. In our experience, pets who stay up to date on preventative care tend to enjoy longer, healthier lives.

Recommended Pet Wellness/Preventive Care

Adult Pet Wellness Exams
For adult pets, we advise annual comprehensive physicals that evaluate eyes, ears, nose, mouth, lungs, skin, joints, lymph nodes and more. Since our pets can’t speak and will often instinctively hide symptoms and signs of illness or pain, these physical exams are extremely important.

Puppy and Kitten Wellness Exams
Young puppies and kittens need to see the vet frequently to ensure they receive the proper vaccinations, and our doctors and technicians do a great job of educating pet parents about what their pet will need to be happy and healthy.

Vaccinations
Updated vaccinations and booster shots are a highly effective way to prevent many common and often deadly diseases and infections like rabies, distemper, feline panleukopenia, rhinotracheitis, and more.

Dental Care
Your pet’s teeth and the health of their mouth can affect every aspect of their life. Regular professional dental work will improve your pet’s well-being. Annual dental cleanings performed under anesthesia include radiographs, cleaning, polish, and any needed treatments. Dental services require anesthesia.

Parasite Control
Fleas, ticks, heartworm, and intestinal parasites need to be eradicated and prevented–not only for your pet’s health but for your family’s as well. Many of these parasites are zoonotic, meaning they can be transmitted to people. Our veterinarians can help you determine which parasite prevention is right for your pet.

Skin & Coat Care
Grooming, washing, brushing and managing any external allergies prevents infections, mange, matting, and more.

Pet Nutrition
Proper nutrition supports all your pet’s bodily processes, bolstering their immune system and ensuring normal aging, growth, and development.

Behavioral Evaluations
Changes in mood or behavior are often symptoms of underlying medical conditions. Identifying these shifts helps us identify and treat the root cause.

Senior and Geriatric Pets
Your older pet’s health is important to us! Because pets age much faster than humans, disease and illness progress much faster as well–making preventative care extremely important for senior pets. That’s why for all pets over seven, we may recommend an exam with bloodwork every six months.

How often does my pet need an exam?

Depending on the breed and size of the pet, the average pet will age about five to seven years for every human year. That means that the health of a 7-year-old terrier is equivalent to that of a 35-year old human. Because of your pet’s short life span (averaging about 14 years), it is extremely important that your pet receives preventive care at least once per year and twice per year for pets over eight years of age.
