Dr. Jala Johnston joined the Wellspring Animal Hospital team in July 2026, returning to the community she proudly calls home. Her connection to our network began years earlier as a veterinary assistant at Conyers Animal Hospital, where she worked before and throughout veterinary school. Today, she is excited to care for the pets and families of East Metro Atlanta as a veterinarian, bringing her journey full circle.
A proud first-generation veterinarian, Dr. Johnston was born and raised in Covington, Georgia, where her passion for animals began at a young age. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Georgia before pursuing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree through St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her clinical training at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she gained valuable experience caring for companion animals and developed a passion for client education, preventative medicine, and compassionate patient care.
As a Christian, Dr. Johnston considers it a true privilege to care for God’s creation and strives to honor Him through her work by treating every patient with kindness, compassion, and excellence. She believes veterinary medicine is about more than diagnosing and treating illness—it’s about building trusting relationships with pets and the families who love them.
When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. Johnston enjoys spending quality time with her family, painting, drawing, staying active through exercise, and relaxing with a good true crime documentary or podcast.
Whether it’s celebrating a new puppy or kitten, helping a senior pet enjoy their golden years, or guiding families through life’s most difficult moments, Dr. Johnston is committed to providing exceptional veterinary care with compassion, integrity, and heart.
